1.General initial situation
The conceptual orientation is based on the empirical values of the founding members from many years of active athletes and trainers, the specialist knowledge from professional activities with regard to educational science, pedagogy, sociology and sports science, as well as empirical values and data from surveys on leisure behavior and design in connection with personality development of children and young people to reason.
According to this, children and young people in particular have a high degree of lack of exercise, as well as one-sided and unhealthy eating and nutritional habits, which in many children and young people lead to corresponding physical consequences such as obesity, diabetes II and diseases of the cardiovascular system.
The causes for the former are in turn a change in leisure time behavior (strong increase in employment with audiovisual/digital devices or media), as well as an increasing loss of the social meaning of common -family values -such as shared meals/excursions, etc.- through social- structural changes on the sociological meso level (increase in separated spouses/increase in employed single parents/increase in so-called long-time workers, but also the extension of teaching time into the afternoon at many schools).
In addition, the connection between the level of education and diet has been scientifically proven. In educationally disadvantaged families, less value is placed on a varied and balanced diet – the significantly low income in these families is certainly one of the reasons.
Since the average income and the level of education tend to be lower in social hotspots, symptoms such as diet-related and lack of exercise or less health-conscious lifestyle caused physical ailments more often in children and adolescents than in other regions. It is precisely here that the KSV Hamburg eV would like to get involved and be active, although the
Association wants to set up, maintain and expand its offers in as many parts of the city as possible.
2. Target Specifications
The conceptual goals are determined by the concrete offers of the association:
– the so-called sports camp offers during the school holidays and
- the open sports offers in the districts
They differ, but also partially show congruence.
2.1. Objectives for the so-called training camps
The so-called training camps are intended to meet the need for active and structured leisure time activities during the school holidays with attractive, adventure/experience-pedagogical and sports-related offers appropriate to the age of the child/adolescent.
This will:
– Children and young people who are already physically/sportingly active (privately or in a club) are offered a completely different range of sports and leisure activities, which, however, supplements and supports the offers already used by further improving and intensifying the knowledge and skills already acquired , but also provides new suggestions and impulses for other sporting activities, experiences and insights - and they will
– Children and young people who were less (sportingly) active in the past, or those who stopped or reduced their activities again due to frustration / failure, through a sense of achievement, fun with the (sporting) activities and the large community – already during, but also after time of our camps - positively influenced and motivated by the associated memories, without putting pressure on them, so that they come to the conviction that doing sports (sporting activities) is a meaningful activity for them that is a lot of fun .
The large number of sports and leisure activities during the camps, including social interaction and the resulting sense of community, should enable the children and young people to have experiences with which they associate a high degree of fun and joy in what they have experienced and will not forget them.
Fun and joy are the greatest intrinsic motivators for a sustained willingness to learn and act.
As a result, exercise will:
- Seen as a fun, learning and challenge opportunity to create your own
Boundaries to improve / skills, or find new incentives.
– This in turn leads to a balanced and positive emotional-psychological attitude.
– The positive experiences, knowledge, skills and attitudes gained help the children and young people to strengthen their self-confidence/self-esteem and thus their self-image, which in turn is a basic requirement for stable personality development.
The fixed, but individually variable structure and design/procedures of the training days, starting with breakfast together, the individual consideration of which sports offer is selected for the day, lunch together, and the afternoon offer of adventure and experiential educational elements, sporting events and/or second The aim of the training unit is to give the children a lasting impression of their motivation to act and thus their patterns of action through the acquisition of social skills.
On the basis of predictability and trust, the participants should be able to independently and consciously make use of the various options on offer and to recognize why they choose which offers.
- The correlating connection between health, sport and healthy nutrition should be brought closer and clarified to children and young people by the example of the responsible trainer supervisors and the responsible staff (as learning-theoretical role acting), as well as
– the positive effect of a sporty, active and health-conscious lifestyle on self-image and Self-concept should be explained at a suitable opportunity, i.e. depending on the situation (e.g. at social and communicative occasions such as having lunch together).
The complexity of the offer, including its conceptual goals, requires the inclusion of pedagogical working methods with regard to the design and implementation of the (holiday) leisure offer.
The trainers/supervisors and other responsible employees work on the basis of action-oriented pedagogical approaches (this includes, above all, holistic approaches, principles of acceptance and learning with all the senses).
2.2. Goals for the open sports offers
In cooperation with other clubs and schools, the KinderSpassVerein offers so-called open sports offers, which are based on the so-called open child and youth work offers due to their design and objectives, and so in addition to the initiation of sporting activities and experiences (above all) also contain social and socio-pedagogical intentions, and thus clearly differ from the offers of other associations.
Here, too, this requires the inclusion of pedagogical approaches and methods:
- Orientation through the teaching of body and health awareness, realistic self-perception and perception of others, as well as the so-called self-efficacy, which is to be promoted/achieved in all children and young people, so that the medium/long-term goal is to build a positive self-image the responsible trainers/supervisors focus on action-oriented, holistic and systemic approaches.
Due to the low threshold of this offer, a large number of children and young people, especially in social hot spots, but also in socially inconspicuous parts of the city, can be reached.
The following main objectives are strived for in this association activity:
- Enabling regular participation in free sports activities and thus meaningful leisure activities
– Creation of an experience and adventure space with the aim of improving cognitive-emotional and physical abilities, as well as the expansion of social skills with a focus on self-perception and external perception, communication, motivation and conflict resolution (so-called soft skills) and
- through integrative and participative-methodical approaches, a coexistence of children and young people from different social and cultural backgrounds is striven for within the framework of regulations and pedagogical principles of holism and acceptance.
- Especially children from socially disadvantaged, uneducated and so-called families with a migrant background should be given the opportunity to participate in cultural and educational events and offers (sport is part and expression of social culture) and to help shape them.
Otherwise, they often do not have this opportunity for various reasons.
2.2.1. Open sports offers - social responsibility / goal setting
The association management and those responsible for the association, who in their entirety themselves have great cultural diversity, including corresponding CVs, which were determined by their own migrant statuses and fates, and who therefore face the diverse difficulties of foreign fellow citizens and people with a migrant background, especially children and young people are known or even familiar with social integration, want a special responsibility with the club activities in the areas of open sports offers
for these adolescents, and thus above all a social one, because the management of the association sees particularly good opportunities and possibilities within the framework of these offers to support, promote and improve the social integration of these groups and thus make a social contribution
– on the one hand for a social minority of disadvantaged young people and
- On the other hand, to do for society as the human community that supports the state.
Because the perspective should always be two-dimensional if possible:
– Only socially competent young people want/can be integrated and thus live socially and existentially securely
– only an informed “competent” society can integrate and thereby grow and become stronger.
Accordingly, the methodological approach is bilateral, but not the same in scope and intensity, because the work within the offer with the adolescents is clearly in the foreground.
As a social-societal objective, it should be achieved on the one hand by
– Adolescents learn important rules of interaction such as tolerance, respect and boundaries of others by participating in open sports activities, which are also indispensable prerequisites at all higher levels of social interaction (family, school, workplace, state/political participation) and at the same time an expression of social - represent a democratic value system, are introduced and ideally internalize it.
– associated skills also influence and shape the thought and action patterns of adolescents who live within a
- Enabling and facilitating society and participation in it, and making it appear worth striving for.
- The sense of belonging and solidarity that develops in the children and young people as part of the offer and the group participants, as well as the identification with the offer - as part of a cultural form of expression in our society - also has a medium to long-term effect in that the participants see themselves as part of society as a whole and identify with it
( = clarify the offer as a microcosm of society ).
and on the other hand:
Reservations against young people with a migrant background through the exchange and interaction of all participants, club members, members
- among themselves and within the club, but also through the participation of the open sports groups in regional competitions, the transfer of representative responsibility as youth group leaders, the transfer of young people to other clubs to promote strengths and abilities, the cooperation of the club with the responsible authorities and offices , facilities – are dismantled by “outside” third parties
- This improves the willingness at the societal meso and macro level for an accepting and unprejudiced approach to young migrants by means of so-called aggregation, which is a prerequisite for extensive integration on the part of society.
2.2.2 Limits of association work/intensification
With regard to the objectives just mentioned, the club repeatedly reaches its limits not only because of the focus work as a sports club, but also because of the financial and human resources. In the future it is planned to further expand and intensify this association work with the help of finance through fundraising and subsidies from state funds. The management of the association sees working with disadvantaged young people in deprived areas as one of its medium and long-term priorities.
3. Description of Offers
The two large areas of football camps (sports camps) and open sports activities outside of school differ not only in terms of their objectives, but also in terms of their type, scope and design.
3.1. The offers of the sports camps
So far, these offers have only taken place during the Hamburg school holidays at five different locations in five different parts of the city, namely in Eimsbüttel, Altona, Bergedorf, Bergstedt, Wilhelmsburg / Harburg and Barmbek.
At four of the five locations, school facilities and buildings serve as the basis and starting point for further activities.
In Barmbek, because the main focus of the city park can/should be used with all of its possibilities, accommodation and community interaction takes place in comfortable, very stable all-weather large tents
When carrying out the sports camp offers (but also all others), the association can use various municipal/district (sometimes also public) facilities and facilities due to cooperation and networks within the districts - such as sports halls and squares, school facilities such as auditoriums, playgrounds and recreation halls adventure and play facilities.
The sports camps are organized and structured
– All-day offers, ie from morning (9.00 a.m.) to afternoon (approx. 5.00 p.m.) with full board based on a balanced diet for growing, physically active people
- one week (theoretically they can be booked several times in a row), whereby the scope and details of the offer are predetermined,
- The focal points (football, dancing, self-defence, partly horseback riding) can be freely selected by the children within the camp week, but also on a daily basis - the former are supplemented by
– Adventure and experience events (canoeing, swimming, inline skating, hockey, water fights, bouncy castles and barbecues, visits to HSV/St.Pauli)
Group and community-oriented, ie divided into groups of 10-15 children each with a responsible trainer supervisor (= small group group leader), with a “supervisor” (= large group group leader) being responsible for three to five trainer supervisors and their groups. These in turn are directly subordinate to and responsible for the sports camp/club management. The children can contact their responsible trainer supervisor or the "supervisor" directly at any time with questions, suggestions or problems of any kind. So you always have two competent contacts.
- The respective child/adolescent takes part in all activities either with all children together - i.e. with all groups - (breakfast, lunch, some focal points and events), but also partially in the large group (usually about 30-60 children - mostly on excursions) or also in small groups (meetings, planning, agreements, games). All participating children/adolescents are therefore in constant interaction with other participants and the trainer/supervisors for the entire time of participation.
– The sports camp offer is transparent because all parents and children are invited to an information evening before the start. All details can also be found on the association's website, as well as initial important information on the flyers that are available in all parts of the city. In addition, on the morning of the first day of the camp, all important information is repeated by the sports camp management in front of all the children and parents gathered, and the individual daily routine is presented and special features are pointed out.
– A flat-rate fee is payable per child and week for the offer, which can be reduced by the Hamburger Ferienpass, siblings and multiple participation.
In addition, the unemployed and those on low wages can be exempted or exempted from paying the contribution by providing appropriate evidence from the consortium and job centers. the costs are borne by them. The low flat-rate contribution (EUR 80 per week and child) is a cost price and is only possible through numerous free uses by the association within its networks.
3.1. The open sports offers
The open sports offers take place in cooperation with schools or other social institutions such as district cultural institutions, youth organizations and others. instead and are
with regard to the sponsorship (association) and structure (low threshold), as well as target setting (s.P2.2) also pedagogical work iS open children and youth work.

Seen empirically
These offers are led by at least one qualified trainer, who normally also has additional educational/pedagogical qualifications, either through appropriate vocational qualifications or through several years of experience in these professions.
This results in two essential pedagogical approaches for the association's work
With regard to the design and implementation of the (holiday) leisure activities, trainer supervisors and other responsible employees are based on action-oriented and holistic educational approaches (this includes above all holistic approaches, principles of acceptance and learning with all senses)
